We are excited to announce our second Tribute Puppy and Assistance Dog In-Training, EMBER’s little girl, has been named COLLEEN! Colleen is named in honor and in memory of Colleen Seaman. Colleen was a true Proverbs 31 woman who’s life was spent in the service of others. From a young age her curiosity and passion for all of God’s creatures was driven through her love of animals. She had everything from pet monkeys to a pet skunk, and she instilled this love of animals in her daughter. Colleen was a nursing home administrator for nearly 35 years and would often take the family dog or dogs with her to work to visit her residents. She noticed the difference in her residents when they interacted with the animals and saw how much joy they brought. She loved all of her animals, but cherished her relationship she had with her own therapy dog, a Yorkie named Harley. He was her therapy dog for 6 years until he lost his sight due to a brain tumor forcing his retirement. On January 16th 2018 Colleen received a call she could not refuse and passed gracefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior after a 14 month battle with Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare liver cancer. She is survived by her Husband Keith, her daughter Christen, her fur baby Harley, and her grand puppy Cooper. Her passion for people and therapy dogs drove the decision to have people donate in her name to such an amazing organization in the hopes that others would benefit from her amazing drive, determination and kindness. In her honor, we name this puppy COLLEEN and look forward to all of the wonderful things she will do in her life.
