DOG Name: COLLIER
Team Since: 2017
Heyden is a bright and energetic 14 year old boy who loves to play soccer, shoot hoops with his friends and play video games. Heyden excels at math and is a very nurturing child always concerned with the welfare of others. Heyden was adopted at birth and has brought tremendous joy to his family from day one.
At first glance, most people may not realize Heyden has struggled his entire life with mental health conditions from his birthmother’s drug use during pregnancy, including severe anxiety, depression, self harm behaviors, ADHD and mood stability including issues with anger and mood regulation. Heyden also has difficulty sleeping and experiences panic attacks. These “invisible” conditions aren’t always obvious to people on the surface but they are very real. Heyden works really hard at controlling his emotions but sometimes needs a little help.
In March of 2017, Heyden met COLLIER! COLLIER is a sweet golden and is eager to step in and help Heyden! COLLIER will anchor for when Heyden is nervous, upset and feeling like he is about to panic. He will also help with behavior interruption and alerting to his anxiety. He will give Heyden a sense of security and be there for him when he needs it most!
