Alethea is the owner and director of Jenkins Preschool Academy in Wilmington North Carolina. Alethea’s first Facility Dog COLLIER served the preschool from 2017-2023. As of spring 2024, FORBES is carrying on COLLIER’s legacy. FORBES helps create a relaxed environment where the children feel safe to explore and try new things. She encourages and supports multiple developmental skills taught at the preschool by being involved in many hands-on learning activities. FORBES also provides many opportunities for social/emotional skill development as the children learn to care for her and learn about the role of Assistance and Facility Dogs in the community.
Alethea was a 2021 Children’s Champion Honoree with Smart Start of New Hanover County.
