Facility Dog Teams
DOG Name: FOREST
Team Since: 2018
Alexa is a graduate of UNCW who has completed the Service Dog Training Program, as well as the Puppy Development Internship. She earned her degree in Special Education: Adapted Curriculum, and is now teaching a class of students whom are all on the Autism Spectrum. She will be teaching them functional academics, daily living skills, and how to be as independent as possible.
FOREST is a great asset to Alexa’s classroom. FOREST helps Alexa to motivate, assist, and comfort her students during lessons in the classroom. If any of the students in the school experience traumatic events, Alexa and FOREST will be able to sit with the child as they work through their emotions, as well. This team is doing wonderful things in the West Virginia School System, and we are thrilled to have them as part of the paws4people family.
