SAYLOR & Sherry Cain
SAYLOR is a breeding ambassador with paws4people and also serves as the first paws4people Facility Dog to be placed in a Juvenile Detention Center (JDC). SAYLOR accompanies Sherry Cain, Center Supervisor at New Hanover County JDC daily to provide positive reinforcement and encouragement for detained youth. SAYLOR is there for kids while being checked in, as it can often be an intimidating and stressful process. SAYLOR is a ball of happiness that adds a unique twist to a sometimes unpredictable day at the detention center. SAYLOR motivates the kids to have good behavior, do their schoolwork, and helps relieve stress when they are missing home. SAYLOR also welcomes lots of pets from the detention center’s staff anytime they need some decompression from what can be a very stressful job at times. New Hanover County JDC is a training venue for paws4people and through an ongoing partnership paws4people conduct a weekly program educating the kids and staff on assistance dogs. Kids and staff will also have the honor to watch some of SAYLOR’S litter grow up to transform lives.
